Kentucky March Madness Predictions
Updated March 14th, 2010
The Kentucky Wildcats topped of their stellar season with a SEC Conference Championship title today. Although it took the Wildcats overtime to get by a scrappy Mississippi State, they looked strong all tournament, including a dominating performance over Tennessee on Saturday. The Kentucky Wildcats come into the NCAA tournament with 32-2 overall record, where they were 14-2 in SEC conference play. Freshmans John Wall and Demarcus Cousins led the way for the Wildcats with 16.9 and 15.5 PPG respectively. Ranked #2 in the country this young Kentucky team definetly lived up to their expectations thus far this season.
Kentucky Wildcats Tournament Prediction
In 50 March Madness Tournament appearances, the Kentucky Wildcats have made 13 Final Four appearances, and have won 7 total Championships, most recently in 1998. Kentucky is a regular in the NCAA Tournament, and boast an overall tournament record of 100-45. Look for these exceptional Freshman players to lead the Wildcats into at least an Eilte Eight appearance, and their ultimate goal of heading to Indianapolis for the Final Four. In my eyes Kentucky will be playing in this years National Championship game.

Team Offense - As mentioned, the Kentucky offense that averages around 81 points per game, is led by Freshman Guard John Wall, who averages around 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Another Freshman, Forward DeMarcus Cousins, is not far behind Wall on the scoresheet as he sits just behind Wall with 16 points per game, but leads the Wildcats with 10 rebounds per game. The Wildcats offense has put up 80+ points on 13 occasions this year, and 100+ points on 3 different occasions this year. The Wildcat offense is what the team will be leaning on to advance through this tournament.
Team Defense - Leading the way on the defensive glass for Kentucky is John Wall, with almost 2 steals per game, and DeMarcus Cousins, who leads the Wildcats with 137 defensive rebound this season. During a current 4-game win streak, no one has mustered more than 75 points against the Wildcats, and twice the Wildcats held their opponents to just 55 points. A defense that averages about 65 points against per game should be able to hold up until at least the Sweet Sixteen.
